Defending Champion: David Rose

The Bostock Trophy was donated by Senator Hewitt Bostock in 1895 on the condition that it is awarded to the Amateur Champion of British Columbia. It was to remain the property of the Victoria Golf Club, and could not be won outright by any winner. Hence, this trophy is “on loan” from the Victoria Golf Club to the British Columbia Golf Association for the presentation each year to the Amateur Champion.

While the actual trophy is presented to each year’s Champion, this Champion is also given a trophy to keep and the Bostock Trophy is returned to British Columbia Golf, inscribed with the name of the Champion.

The Bostock Trophy was placed on display at the Sports BC Hall of Fame until 1989, after which it was moved to its current home at the BC Golf House Museum.

The BC Amateur Championship is open to 156 amateur golfers who are exempt or have qualified through their zone qualifier or the supplemental qualifier.

The BC Amateur Championship is 72 holes stroke play with a cut to 70 and ties after 36 holes.

The Hamber Club Team Championship and Zone Team Championship will be held coincidentally with the first and second rounds of the BC Amateur.

Four person zone teams are named by each zone prior to the start of the tournament. The zone team competition uses the low 3 of 4 scores each day. Two person club teams are selected after the second round by taking the two players with the lowest score from each club with two or more players. The club championship takes both scores from the club team.
