Player Development

The vision of British Columbia Golf is to introduce and grow the sport of golf by providing the people of British Columbia with the opportunity to participate in a lifetime sport that promotes their physical, mental and emotional well being. The goal of Player Development is to execute this vision by providing programs and services for all levels of golf development in the province. Using the framework of the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) Guide for Golf in Canada, Player Development works with golfers of all ages and abilities to help them reach their maximum potential.

British Columbia Golf has structured Player Development to address both high performance programs and recreational golf programs.

High Performance Programs

British Columbia Golf is working to improve the overall playing performance of competitive golfers in British Columbia – whether they play at the junior, amateur, mid-amateur or senior level. British Columbia Golf high performance programs look beyond just the technical facets of the game and into areas that will improve the player as a complete package. This includes areas such as strength and conditioning for golf, nutrition, mental management, biomechanics, planning and periodization.

Recreational Programs

British Columbia Golf recognizes the importance of grassroots programming to grow the game of golf. By developing and expanding recreational programs for men, women, juniors and the disabled, British Columbia Golf works towards eliminating the barriers that prevent greater participation in golf.

British Columbia Golf has created the Playground to Fairway school golf program to introduce children to golf and has also invested time and resources into the development of female specific recreational programming. British Columbia Golf also has future plans to expand its programming to include other demographics in order to help increase the golfing population.
