Exciting Field Now Set For British Columbia Women’s Amateur And Mid-Amateur At Duncan Meadows

Sixty of the province’s best female amateur golfers are set to tackle Duncan Meadows Golf & Country Club from June 30 to July 3 for the British Columbia Golf Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championship.
Leading the field of contenders are defending champion Taylor Kim of Kent State University; defending Mid-Amateur champion Christina Spence Proteau; Team Canada development team members Michelle Kim, Naomi Ko and Alisha Lau from British Columbia and Jaclyn Lee from Alberta; Alison Murdoch and Jessica Luciuk, who competed in the Mid-Master, Senior and Super Senior championships at Cowichan; and promising young juniors Susan Xiao, Mary Parsons, Hannah Lee, Vivian Lee and Shirin Anjarwalla.
The 72-hole stroke-play tournament kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30 when Darleen Michelle, Connie Hang and Heather White tee off the first hole at Duncan Meadows.
Duncan Meadows is a challenging track which boasts a champions list that includes current LPGA star Paula Creamer and former PGA TOUR player Chris Baryla. The course’s many lakes and ponds create an eco-culture that is home to many types of waterfowl.
From every tee, golfers are rewarded with unforgettable mountain and valley views. Rolling waves of wild grasses border many holes while yet others are carved from wooded maple and fir.
The course itself is an exceptionally strong mix of parkland and links style holes exquisitely sculpted from the gently rolling and verdant landscape. Meandering creeks crossed with small rock bridges recall the roots of the game in Scotland while the manicure of the greens is consistent with today's best conditioned facilities.
