B.C. Juvenile Championships Set Up For Furious Finishes

WEST KELOWNA — It’s shaping up to be an exciting finish at the B.C. Juvenile Boys and Girls Championships at Shannon Lake Golf Club.

The girls championship is deadlocked heading into Thursday’s final round, with Victoria’s Chelsea Truong and Amy Lee of Langley both at two-under par through 36 holes.

Lee carded the low round of the tournament with a four-under 68 on Wednesday, while Truong shot an even-par 72. They are four shots clear of June Hsiao of Coquitlam, who is two-over par after her 72 on Wednesday.

Daniel Xu of Richmond leads the boys championship by one shot. Xu sits at even-par after shooting a two-under 68 on Wednesday. Brayden Barr of Victoria is alone in second at one-over after his second-round 69. Manpreet Lalh of Nanaimo, Maguire Lines of Victoria and Oakley Mayner of Kelowna are tied for third at three-over par.

The Juvenile championships are open to players aged 16 and younger. 

A 36-hole Zone competition concluded Wednesday with the Zone 6 team of Zachary Auramenko of Campbell River, Mack Sanderson of Creston and Samuel Kurytnik of Nanaimo winning with a score of 16-over.

CHIP SHOTS: Both the girls and boys fields were cut in half after Wednesday’s round. . .Ty Barrie of Victoria aced the par 3 seventh hole Wednesday en route to a two-over 72.
