2023 Board of Directors
Greg Moody, President
Greg is a retired business owner in North Vancouver. He is a 38-year member of Seymour Golf Club, a nationally certified, level three rules official, and a long-term active member of the Zone 4 committee. As Chair of the Zone Council, Greg joined the board of British Columbia Golf in 2019. He has also served on the Championship & Finance Committees.
Michelle Collens, Immediate Past President

Kris Jonasson, Ex-Officio
The Chief Executive Officer of British Columbia Golf, Kris has been in the position of CEO (previously designated as Executive Director) for the BCGA since 1996. Prior to joining the association he spent five years as a Tournament Official with the Canadian Professional Tour. Kris is an active member of the board of the Greater Vancouver First Tee in addition to being treasurer of the Allied Golf Association of British Columbia.
Shauna Wilton, Director
An avid recreational golfer, Shauna is a Partner at Cascadia Strategy Consulting Partners. In her 20+ year career she has been a trusted advisor and leader in both the public and private sectors including 4 years as the Deputy General Manager of the Vancouver Park Board. She has volunteer and board experience at the local and national level and is a life-long participant in sport.
David Lee-Fay, Director

Naomi Yamamoto, Director
An 8-year member of British Columbia's Legislature (2009-17), Naomi held 5 cabinet positions including Minister of State for Tourism and Small Business. She is also former President and General Manager of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.
Christina Spence Proteau, Director
Christina has won multiple Provincial, National and International championships in both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur category. Christina was a star player on the New Mexico State women’s team before transferring to the University of Victoria where she graduated with a law degree. She currently resides in Port Alberni and is employed in the Attorney General’s office as a Crown Prosecutor.
Hugh Wong, Director
Hugh attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained his teaching certification (BEd). As President, Volleyball Canada (2007-13), Hugh’s focus on strategic leadership was pivotal in turning Volleyball Canada into a financially sustainable organization. SportBC honoured Hugh with the Darryl Thompson award in 2016. In 2005, he became a full member at the Kelowna G&CC and golf is now the dominant leisure activity in Hugh's life.
Sam Oliphant, Director
Sam is a Senior VP and Partner at Kirk & Co., a Vancouver-based consulting firm specializing in strategic communications, consultation, and engagement. Between 2013 and 2016, Sam served as Press Secretary in the Office of the Premier of British Columbia. Sam's career golf highlight was playing on the team that won the Pro-Am Championship at the 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship.
Sheila van Gisbergen, Chair/ Zone Committee and Secretary of the Association
An avid golfer of 20+ years, Sheila is retired and loves both recreational and competitive golf. She joined the BC Golf Board in 2020 and is the present Chair of the Volunteer Recognition Committee as well as an active volunteer with Zone 6, and BC Golf Championships. Sheila feels privileged to have also volunteered with Golf Canada, the PGA TOUR, LPGA, Championship and Qatar Masters European Tour.
Joe Higgins, Director
With over 25 years of experience, Joe is an accomplished, internationally recognized coach for both men's and women's teams representing Canada in wheelchair basketball at the World Championship and Paralympic levels. His work with Paralympic athletes has resulted in gold medals for Canadian wheelchair athletes since the early 1990's. Joe has also been honoured with awards at the Provincial, National and International level with his skills seeing him oversee training for high performance athletes not only in Canada but for programs in countries around the globe.
Michael Cook, Director
Michael spent many years involved with law enforcement as a corrections officer at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre and also held security roles at various venues. He's put together a strong volunteer record including time as a youth basketball coach, Cub and Scout leader and supporter of the Firefighter's Burn Fund of Victoria. During this stretch he has been a constant contributor to the game of golf in British Columbia with BC Golf Zones 5 and 6 junior programs and has been a BC Golf Rules official since 2009.
Brent Lindberg, Director
Brent has a long association with British Columbia Golf and is a certified rules official as well as being the Zone 3 Chair, Sr. Championship Chair and current Chair of the Finance Committee. Brent is a golf course owner/operator having been Director of Operations & Administration with Tall Timber GC for 30 years and more recently has become involved with 18 Pastures Golf Course.
