    BELLINGHAM, WA – On the final day of the Western Washington Men's Golf Invitational, SFU's Chris Crisologo shot a one-over 73, holding off a charging Andrew Harrison, to take his first win of the season.

    VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds prevailed as the team champion for the third time in the last four years at the 45th Annual Western Washington University Men's Golf Invitational played at Bellingham Golf & Country Club, Sept. 26-27th.

    The T-Birds finished with a team score of 6-under-par 858, adding the team title at the WWU Invite to winning years in 2007, 2013 and 2014. UBC posted rounds of 1-under 287 and 5-under 282 before finishing up with a 1-over 289,

    Chico State was the team runner-up at 4-under (860), followed by Concordia (Ore.) (E, 864), California State Monterey Bay (+5, 869) and the University of Victoria (+5, 869).

    Walla Walla, Wash. - Brad Karns of Vancouver, Wash. shot 1-under par in the final round to win the 30th Washington State Senior Men's Amateur Championship; while Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. went wire-to-wire in capturing the 9th Washington State Super Senior Men's Amateur. This is the second title for Lindbjerg, having also won this championship in 2014.

    More than 200 golfers from across the United States and Canada will converge on Port St. Lucie, FL for the 2016 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship, hosted at the prestigoius and beautiful PGA Golf Club, using the Ryder and Wannamaker Courses.

    One of those golfers is West Kelowna, BC's Kyle Grummett who has a Bronze medal from the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles along with the Gold medal he picked up in the 2014 Special Olympic Summer Games held in Vancouver.

    Grummett was also nominated by British Columbia Golf for a 2016 Sport BC Athlete of the Year award for an athlete with a disability.

    MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – A steady wind blew through Mississaugua Golf and Country Club as the 2016 World Junior Girls Championship got underway. Despite the gusty conditions, the trio representing the Philippines built a distinct early advantage to top the team competition by 11 strokes.

    With a total of 2-over 146, Canada One comprised of  Monet Chun of Richmond Hill, Ont., Mary Parsons (Delta, B.C.) and Chloe Currie (Mississauga, Ont.) are knotted in second with Team China and Team USA.

    With Golf Canada’s fiscal year coming to a close at the end of the October, Golf in Schools has tallied 230 adoptions to Elementary, Intermediate, and Secondary schools across Canada. That figure translates to an additional 27,600 students being introduced to the sport on an annual basis.

    Richmond, B.C. (PGA of BC) - On a day where wind gusts reached almost 40 kilometres per hour at Quilchena Golf & Country Club in Richmond, Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) maintained his first round lead to claim the 2016 Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada PGA of BC Club Professional Championship presented by Club Car.

    Firing rounds of 67-70, Zibrik had a four stroke lead after Monday's round, while five players sat hot on his tail in second place.

    It is with great sadness that Golf Canada joins the international golf community in mourning the loss of golf legend Arnold Palmer who passed away on September 25, 2016 at the age of 87.

    Affectionately known as ‘The King’, Palmer, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will be remembered as one of the most influential figures in the history of golf.

    The 2016 Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship saw many of the top names from the PGA TOUR Champions grace the fairways of Victoria, BC’s picturesque Mountain Course at the Bear Mountain Resort.

    The likes of two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer, former U.S. Open champions Lee Janzen, Tom Kite and Scott Simpson and several other major winners including Mark Calcavecchia, Ian Woosnam, Mark O’Meara, Vijay Singh, Larry Mize and World Golf Hall of Fame member Colin Montgomery were on hand to vie for the US$2.5 Million purse.

    Those were just some of the names that Tsawwassen’s Murray Poje was teeing it up with this past weekend after he made it through local qualifying to earn a spot in the field with these legends of the game who now make their living playing 3-round, no-cut golf but can still ‘golf their ball’ as the saying goes.

    RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico – On the strength of Garrett Rank’s 69 (-2), the Canadian contingent climbed inside the Top-10 for the first time in Saturday’s final round of the 30th World Amateur Team Championship to close the tournament in a tie for ninth at 12-under par.

    Playing on the Mayakoba El Camaleon Golf Club, Rank, 29, led the Canadian trio to a team score of 2-under par on the day, coupled with Jared du Toit’s even-par 71. Collectively, Rank was the leading Canadian at the event. The Elmira, Ont., product finished at 1-under par (74-72-70-69) to hold an individual share of 35th.

    Kimberley, B.C., native Jared du Toit finished two strokes behind Rank at 1-over par (71-70-75-71). The 21-year-old Arizona State senior closed at T44. Teammate Hugo Bernard of Mont-St-Hilaire, Que., was disqualified because of a scoring error in his final round.

    Ki Taek Lee got his senior campaign at Arizona State off to a solid start, climbing 272 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for second at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite; it was the best career result for the senior and moved him back into the Top-20 in the Canadian rankings at No. 15.

    Fellow Canadian and Arizona State teammate Jared du Toit, the No. 1-ranked amateur in Canada, finished in a tie for 48th.
