Freedom 55 Financial Announces Exemption For Local Professional Devin Carrey

(Vancouver, B.C.) – Freedom 55 Financial announced that it has granted local Vancouver professional and Tour member Devin Carrey a sponsor exemption inthe Freedom 55 Financial Open, the season-opening event on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada schedule.

A 23 year old from Burnaby, Carrey played collegiate golf at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and owns 13 top 25 finishes in 43 Mackenzie Tour starts.

He earned conditional status on the Tour for 2016 by playing his way through all three stages of the Tour Qualify Tournament last fall. 

“Vancouver has proven to be a tremendous hotbed for some of Canada’s best players. We’ve seen a number of them perform extremely well at this event over the past two years,” said Tournament Director David Lee-Fay. 

“Devin is a talented young golfer who has done extremely well on the road to achieving his goals. We’re happy to offer him a spot in the tournament and wish him the best of luck later this month,” said Mike Cunneen, Senior Vice-President, Freedom 55 Financial. 

The Freedom 55 Financial Open will be played May 23-29 as the first of 12 events on the 2016 Mackenzie Tour schedule. Freedom 55 Financial is also the title sponsor of the season-ending Freedom 55 Financial Championship held in London, Ontario, September 12 – 18.

In addition to sponsorship of these two events, Freedom 55 Financial also recognizes the top Canadian at each tour stop with the Canadian Player of the Week award and presents the Canadian Player of the Year award at the end of the season.
