(Friday, 27 September, 2019) - To date, 153 organizations have given their commitment to the Women in Golf Charter, pledging to build on current initiatives and develop new projects to increase the number of women, girls and families playing golf and becoming members of clubs, as well as giving women wider opportunities to enjoy careers and volunteering in the sport.

Affiliates from the following nine countries in Asia Pacific have signed up to the Charter: Australia, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka. A number of others have also agreed to sign up and are finalizing all the requirements, including Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia Ladies, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam.

In addition, the ANNIKA Foundation, the PGA of Australia and Mission Hills and Ayla Golf Club (Jordan) have also recently signed up to the Charter.

In July The R&A launched the Women in Golf Leadership Development Programme, part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to the Women in Golf Charter. This programme is being promoted to signatories of the Charter and is aimed at supporting the development and progression of women who have the potential to become future leaders within the golf industry.

The programme is open to signatories of the Charter and although the first programme is based in GB&I we have participants joining the first group from Canada (Golf Canada & British Columbia Golf) and central Europe. In due course, it is hoped the programme can be offered in different regions of The R&A’s jurisdiction.
