BC Golf Hall Of Fame Inductee Bill Hobbis Has Received The Highest Honour That Can Be Awarded From His Home Club, Royal Colwood GC

Bill Hobbis, Lifetime Membership Announcement
The Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that Bill Hobbis has been selected to be awarded a Lifetime Membership. Our bylaws state, “The Board shall have the power to elect to Life Membership any Member who has given the Club unselfish and meritorious service.”
Bill certainly fills those criteria. Briefly, and for the sake of brevity, incompletely, here are the highlights of his golfing career.
RCGC Wall of Honour – Bill is one of the members recognized on our Wall of Honour for his playing record and work as an administrator in the game of golf.
BC Golf Hall of Fame – In 2019 Bill was inducted into the British Columbia Golf Hall of Fame.
Player – It is impossible to accurately summarize Bill’s playing career; he has simply achieved too much. However, some of the highlights include:
- 2-time RCGC club champion
- club champion 21 times at 9 other courses
- 1999 Winner New Zealand International Senior Championship
- 1978 Saskatchewan Amateur Champion
- 3-time Willingdon Cup Provincial team member
- Winner of over 60 Invitational, Open and Amateur Championships
Administrator – Bill has been active as a volunteer for all his adult life in the game of golf. He has at various times been on the Board of the British Columbia Golf Association and been an Associate Governor and Governor with the Royal Canandian Golf Association. He has been on the Board of Directors of 6 different golf clubs and has served as a rules official at innumerable tournaments at all levels of the game.
Bill has played the game with excellence and passion for 50 years, he has volunteered tirelessly at all levels of the game and he has accomplished all this while using his own very unique sense of humour. I know all of you join us in congratulating Bill on becoming a Life Member of Royal Colwood Golf Club, the highest honour our club can award a member.
