Pretty much everyone who follows golf and a whole lot who maybe don't became aware of Michael Block during the recent PGA Championship held at Oak Hill CC in Rochester, New York.
Block's engaging 'everyday man' personality, combined with his stellar play, which included a slam dunk hole-in-one during his final round pairing with Roy McIlroy, brought the Head PGA Professional to the forefront of the tournament's TV broadcasts and into millions of homes.
Block's 1-over par performance over 72 holes earned him a T15 finish and an automatic invite to next year's PGA Championship.
He finished as the low PGA Professional and concurrently became an instant star in the world of sports. Of course with such notoriety goes a lot of sudden interest in an individual's background and Block is no exception.
The HP at Arroyo Trabuco GC in Mission Viejo, Calif., Block appeared in a television ad for his club a few years back and his knack for appearing comfortable and engaging is very apparent.
