New VANGOLF App Will Maximize Golf Experience at Vancouver Park Board Courses

The Vancouver Park Board has launched a new mobile app loaded with features to maximize the golf experience at its three championship courses — Langara, Fraserview, and McCleery.

Golfers who download the free VANGOLF app will be able to receive last minute deals and promotions, and review and book tee times from a cell phone 24 hours a day from anywhere. Players will also be able to find GPS yardages, use an interactive scorecard, track scoring stats, order food and beverages, watch live leaderboards, and track favourite golf games and round history, as well as connect with friends through social media.

“The Park Board recognizes the need to stay current and competitive with our golf courses,” said Park Board Chair Aaron Jasper. “The new app is a great way to build relationships with golfers, improve customer service, and deliver value to both the players and courses. No matter the level of play, VANGOLF will help golfers take their game to another level.”

The app can be downloaded for free from iTunes or from Google Play for Android phone users. Blackberry users can sign up at the golf pro shops or text ‘vangolf’ to 54500 to receive the same last minute deals and promotions via text message.

Golfers can still go online to vancouver.ca to book tee times, sign up for lessons and view green fees.

The golf app will be among the first for publically run golf courses in Western Canada. It has been tested by players and golf pros over the last few months and has been well received.

VANGOLF demonstrates the City’s commitment to improving access to key services across all digital platforms while increasing opportunities for citizens to more easily connect, one of the main pillars of Vancouver’s comprehensive digital strategy. As more mobile tools are developed to help citizens access services on the go, this is another step toward becoming a leading digital city.
